Charged with a Criminal Complaint, DUI or DWI in Platte County Missouri? Once you have posted bond you will receive a citation with the first court date on the front. Charged with DWI in State Court is a serious matter. You want  to discuss your options with an experienced  Platte County DUI Lawyer. Get informed, and take action to protect your rights and your future.

How to Request a Drivers License Hearing in Platte County

Your first court appearance in Platte County may be a month or so away but the clock starts ticking immediately on your right to contest the possible administrative suspension of your Missouri Driving Privileges. In Missouri you have fifteen days from the date of the chemical test failure to request a Drivers License Hearing, if it is alleged that you refused to submit to testing, a Petition for Review must be filed within 30 days.. The Officer should have served you with a 15-day Temporary Driver Permit ( Missouri Department of Revenue Form 2385 ); the request must be made within fifteen days of service of this form if a failure ( BAC of .08 or above) was recorded or a Petition must be filed within 30 days if a Refusal is alleged.

How is a DWI Filed in State Court Different?

The Platte County Circuit Court adjudicates cases filed by State Agencies, which include tickets issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Platte County Sheriff's Office, and the Missouri Water Patrol. These offenses can include Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Possession of Marijuana or other Controlled Substances, Trespassing or other unlawful activity on Riverboat Casino Property, as well as Speeding Tickets and other Traffic Violations. A first-time DUI is still a Class B Misdemeanor, the same as if it was issued by a municipal officer. State Court does not necessarily mean the charge is more serious, however, Circuit Court proceedings are generally more formal than a Municipal Court, and the process can be intimidating.

Platte County History

Platte County was formally organized in 1838 as part of the Platte Purchase and is named for the Platte River. Platte County makes up part of the Kansas City, Missouri Metropolitan Area and has some of the City's northwestern suburbs. The Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is located in Platte County. If you are running late to catch a flight at the airport and receive a speeding ticket on I-29, it is most likely a Platte County ticket.

The Platte County Courthouse is a historic landmark courthouse that was originally constructed in 1866. It is a two-story structure, composed of red brick laid over a limestone foundation. It has a low-pitched crossed-gable style roof. The Platte County Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
